The new Carlisle PD CRIMEWATCH website is launched in late 2014. The new website replaces an outdated, static site that hadn’t been updated in several years. Their new website is linked to a new Facebook account created as part of the CRIMEWATCH program.
VISITORS TO CARLISLE CRIMEWATCH SITE AND FACEBOOK AUDIENCE GROW EXPONENTIALLY
Interest in the new CRIMEWATCH website grew at an uprecedented rate in 2016 with over 275,000 unique visitors. With a service population of 18,682, the Carlisle PD CRIMEWATCH Facebook audience reach grows to over 585,000.
REPORTS OF SHOTS FIRED AT ALIBIS BAR IN CARLISLE
On 4/11/15 around 2339 hours Carlisle Police were dispatched to Alibi’s Spirits at 10 N. Pitt St. for a report of shots fired. The actors fled the scene prior to police arrival. Police officers on duty push the incident out to the public via CRIMEWATCH website and Carlisle PD Facebook page.
INFORMATION ABOUT THE SUSPECT AND INCIDENT SPREADS RAPIDLY
The incident posted on Carlisle’s PD’s Facebook page is shared and total audience reach surpasses 5,700, many of which begin sharing information about the suspects. At this point, there is no local media intervention and the investigation into the shooting continues.
TIPS RECEIVED REVEAL SUSPECT’S ACTUAL PHYSICAL LOCATION
The social platform engagement generate incoming tips and comments regarding the suspect and the case from the surrounding Carlisle community. The Tips identify the shooter and the accomplice, including their current location.
SUSPECTED SHOOTER CAPTURED HOURS AFTER INCIDENT
The suspect was arrested without incident less than 12 hours after the shooting incident. Prior to CRIMEWATCH, the Carlisle PD didn’t have a social media presence or active website capable of delivering vital and transparent public safety information. The community was safer thanks to the Carlisle PD, and CRIMEWATCH.
